In 2007, WHen. began an initiative designed to help develop the next generation of writers:

Writers Ensemble

The Writers Ensemble
is a process which brings together a writer and a director to create a new piece of work, by embarking on a fresh, invigorating collaboration. The work is then showcased for an audience, who have the chance to comment and offer feedback and then return at a later date to see how their ideas have possibly influenced its development.

WHen. continues its association with Theatre503 for this project - the home of fearless, irreverent, brave and provocative new plays.

The current Writers Ensemble takes place between October and December and the writer / director teams taking part are:

Sian Owen / James Hammond
Untitled
with Felicity Davidson, Julian Lamoral-Roberts and Judith Quin

A family have been told they must leave their house forever. Do they resist, do they acquiesce, are they running out of time?

Paul Burgess / Stephanie Roberts
Genius
with Josie Daxter, Ross Drury and Greg Wohead

Exploring reality and delusion, the catalysts for a person entering the realm of the unreal and the world of a genius mind and the fine line between genius and insanity.

Nick Harrop / Julia Stubbs
Tap dancing
with Lucy Cudden, Liam Lane and Laura Murray

Tap dancing: love, rivalry and honesty.

By coming along to Theatre503, you'll have the opportunity to experience new work in its rawest form and provide input that will aid in the growth and development of that new work - be a part of Writers Ensemble.

Following the showcases, you can also send feedback or comments via the WHen. Blog
